“Quite simply the best ice cream scoop I've ever used. Built like a tank, solid and sturdy for even the most stubborn ice cream jobs. This is the first ice cream scoop that I've been able to use without having to thaw out the ice cream first.“

Perfect all-time scoop

This is the best ice cream scoop I have ever owned. Perfect fit in your hand, easy grip handle is absolutely NO SLIP, sharp Stainless Steel edges for cutting into ice cream. Perfect for young and old alike. LOVE, LOVE it!! I would recommend this to everyone

Best scooper I've used

I compared Sumo vs. the identical Oxo Good-grips model; SUMO is a great scoop all-around, but a HAIR inferior to Oxo

Great ice cream scoop all-around. It is almost identical to the Oxo Good-grips scoop, with the most minor of differences, discussed below.

This SUMO comes with a choice of colors (but not black) for the handle, no hole in the handle for hanging it on a hook, and a perfectly smooth reverse side of the steel scoop end. Whereas the Oxo model, which I purchased at the same time, has only a black-colored handle choice, it does have a hole in the handle for hanging, and it has a slightly less perfect reverse side of the scoop end (with the most minor of intended, molded-in indentations)-- which make it get through ice cream SLIGHTLY faster and easier than the SUMO (I compared them head to head with the same container of frozen ice cream). The SUMO claims to be made of safer materials; perhaps that's true concerning the grip/handle end, but I cannot tell-- while the scoop end for both is of identical stainless steel material. Both brands are made of very sturdy steel that won't bend, giving you the best leverage when scooping very frozen, hard-to-scoop ice cream.

They are SO similar that it seems likely they were made in the same factory.

Either is just great, and if the Sumo is cheaper the day you're buying, or if you indeed believe its handle material is safer, then get the SUMO. If priced equally or if you want the very best, based on the slightest of variation only, then get the Oxo.

The Good Cook Smart Scoop, with handles that you release to let the ice cream leave the scoop end, is a pretty amazing scoop, also. It allows larger, perfectly round scoops of ice cream, is well-made, and works perfectly.
