This scoop is of a good, solid, weight. The metal scoop isn't the cheap coated stuff. The cushioned silicone grip is nice as my hand doesn't slip if I get ice cream on it. The end is slightly pointed (dull point) which makes it easier to get into a tub of ice cream. To top it all off, this comes packaged in a box with foam that the scoop fits nicely in. Because of the packaging, this would make a nice gift for an ice cream lover. I highly recommend this scoop.

This was purchased to replace an old ice cream scoop that I never used. I had the kind that used a little lever to push out the ice cream once scooped up. The problem with it (which is why I just used a spoon to serve ice cream...and hence my review title) was that it was not one solid piece of metal. The scoop section was attached to the handle thus creating a clear and easy breaking point - which is exactly what it did one night. This scoop was surprisingly heavy for its size. It is clear from the moment you pick it up that it is high quality and will do its job extremely well. It is one solid piece of metal from scoop to handle - which was the main criteria for me in buying a new one. The rubber part covers the handle of the scoop and makes using it comfortable. Overall, I am extremely happy with it!
