This is a great product. Read the reviews there are no plating issues as there is no plating on the spoon. Spend a little more and avoid the problems everyone has with the other spoons.

The metal is hefty, it has a bit of weight to it and the edges of the metal are almost sharp. It looks a little odd how its attached to the handle so I worry if enough pressure will snap it off, but im not sure how its constructed to see if those fears are confounded. The grip could be a little better since its top is so heavy but overall its a very solid scooper. I liked the box it came in, made it look very classy. Would have been a great gift but it was for personal use so I discarded the nice packaging. I'd almost say to be careful handling this because of the edges.

I love ice cream and have been somewhat concerned lately with my three scoops that are aluminum products that are peeling or have the aluminum now exposed, so I thought I'd try this stainless steel one. It is quite hefty with a good balance and scoops ice cream out great. I am thinking of getting all my kids a SUMO for Christmas and have thrown out my aluminum ones.
9-17-2017: I just looked back through my orders and found that I have bought a dozen of these SUMO ice cream scoops - so far. This purple one replaced another peeling aluminum one. I have bought dark blue, black, red, and one green one and now a purple one. I not only got each of my four kids a Sumo for Christmas, I got each of my four siblings one for Christmas. The first one worked so well that I find I don't like any others, so whenever I have to deal with another scoop, I go back to Sumo and order a replacement. They come quickly via the mail and I am thrilled when I throw out another bad scoop and replace it with this one.
