The only ice cream scoop my family has ever had tended to cling to the ice cream, and it broke within a year or so. It wasn't very impressive, so since then we have always used soup spoons to dish up ice cream, resulting in a lot of bent-up silverware.
This SUMO scoop is definitely in a higher league than that inexpensive scoop. I didn't know using a nice ice cream scoop would make scooping the ice cream so much easier. No longer will we need to strain our wrists, try different angles, or wait for the ice cream to soften. Sadly, it's too late for the poor soup spoons.

We haven't had this ice cream scoop for long, but we love it. It is the nicest, most well constructed ice cream scoop that I have ever come across. An ice cream scoop is one of those items that seems so simple that any one you have should do, but I have been frustrated with the last few that we have purchased. Either they were very hard to scoop w/, or they were uncomfortable to use, or they just seemed like they might break in two when putting the necessary force on them. This one has a great design, it is comfortable, well constructed and works as intended. 10/10 if I had this to do over I would buy it again.
