I have not tried the ice cream scoop yet but judging by its appearance I think it will be great. I like how the tip is a little pointed and thin to cut through the ice cream and the handle feel very solid and comfortable in your hand. I got this for my ice cream eating husband for Christmas. I think he will love it!

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a proper ice cream scoop; large spoons just don’t do the job right. With a spoon, I have to wait until the ice cream is almost melted to scoop it, and since I often end up accidentally leaving the ice cream out too long it becomes a sad soupy mess. This scoop has some serious heft to it, and it’s easy to get the strength needed behind it to actually scoop out frozen ice cream instead of just chipping away at it. I like that there are no moving parts to break or get stuck, and no weird fluid inside (I used to have a hollow scoop with heat conducting fluid so I know they work great, but it always kind of grossed me out). The non-slip grip rubber handle makes it easier to hold (especially if it gets sticky with ice cream), and the pointed tip helps it go though the ice cream faster.
The scoop comes in an incongruously fancy box, which was a bit odd but made it fun to open. After using it I ran it through the dishwasher, and it went through fine with no water getting caught in the handle.
