I bought this as a gift for my husband, who loves ice cream. He's picky about what he scoops with, and usually likes the flat paddle style serving utensils. None of the available paddle style scoopers on Amazon looked like they had a sharp enough edge on them (our freezer keeps ice cream rock hard, so a sharp edge or point is mandatory), so I took a chance on this scooper. It comes in a very nice box, and looks really high end. It weighs in at 8 ozs (!), seems strong enough to dig trenches with no problem, the rubbery handle is comfortable, and it has a nice sharp tip that easily digs into hard ice cream. This scooper should last us a couple of decades at least. Hubby likes it, so I'm happy.
