Very comfortable ice cream scooper, low effort, easy scooping.

There’s nothing worse than craving ice cream and then having to chip it out, bite sized piece by piece, because you don’t have a decent scoop that will cut through the frozen block. Ok, so maybe “nothing worse” is a bit of an exaggeration, but it is frustrating when you just want to sit down with a nice bowl of chocolate chip ice cream while you watch “Biggest Loser” (surely I’m not the only one?). That’s no longer an issue with this scoop. This thing cuts through ice cream* very nicely. The handle is a nice grippy material and the whole thing is well weighted. The tapered tip slides right into the frozen block and is very easy on the wrist. I know that sounds like a small concern, but in college I worked at an ice cream store (with more than 30 flavors!) and repeated ice cream scooping can really tweak your wrist without a decent scoop. I also like that this scoop is solid and doesn’t show any signs of bending.

I recorded the inaugural scooping with our new Sumo scoop, please excuse the scooper who used her fingers on the scooped ice cream. As with any tool, it takes a bit of getting used to, and this scooped the ice cream so easily, she was afraid she was going to flip the ice cream out of the tub. After a few more uses, we’ve gotten better control over our ice cream scooping.

I purchased this scoop at a discounted price in exchange for my honest assessment. This is now my favorite scoop and I have no problem recommending to any other ice cream worshippers.

*we’ve only tried this on store bought ice cream out of our freezer
