In the dark times, before my Sumo Scoop, I was afraid of my ice cream. Would it be too cold upon being removed from the freezer? Would it need to thaw? Would it catch freezer burn upon being returned? So many variables to consider. Not to mention the fact that the previous scoop I owned afforded me no confidence in scoopability. It was lightweight, flimsy and, though unproven, I believe it may have actually cooled the ice cream further.
Enter the mighty Sumo. Oh, lordy. I can now eat my dessert without fear. First off, this hefty fellow feels great in the hand. It's like picking up a gavel in a noisy courtroom - "I'm about to declare some order in these here chambers." Secondly, the metal seems to cut through even the coldest of creams. No thaw time required. Self-discipline is needed when a-la-moding these days because part of me wants to keep on scooping even after I've portioned out my serving. It's too satisfying Finally, look at it. Simple. Utilitarian. Colorful. What's not to like? Domo arigato, Sumo.
