The heft of the scoop reinforces the claim that it is pure stainless steel (even through the handle). That and the thickness of the neck is good for durability (narrow necked scoops or scoops with a metal piece mounted on a fully plastic handle aren't worth the materials they're made with). The scoop has a slight edge and point to aid scooping firmer ice creams. Time will reveal its true durability, but it seems like a great scoop for the price as of now.
