I got this scoop to replace an ice cream scoop of my mother's that I'd broken. It was an older scoop that had a handy spring loaded tab in the cup of the scoop for removing clingy scoops. It had a plastic handle that snapped in half on me when I tried to scoop some ice cream.
No, this scoop doesn't have that handy little tab I mentioned. But this scoop's hefty construction and geometry more than makes up for it!
When I presented this to my mother, we opened it and pored over the contents. My mother appreciated the small note in the box that stated confidence in the scoop, but if there were issues or concerns, the manufacturer could be contacted via email (an address was on the note).
I can see why the manufacturer is so confident. This scoop is STURDY. It feels like it was formed from one piece of metal. No attachment points or plastics to snap here. I figured this scoop would do well, but have left the scooping to my mother; She is STOKED with this scoop!
There's two nuances to this that emphasize my mother's satisfaction with this scoop: She is aging, and she has arthritis in both hands that has reached a point of severity that she's being told surgeries are in her near future. Bottom line; She can't perform tasks that require strong, stout hands and wrists.
Due to the geometry of this scoop and it's quality of workmanship, she can effortlessly plunge this scoop into a tub of ice cream straight out of the freezer- no thawing needed! In her words: "This thing CUT right through that frozen ice cream!"
My mother also likes to cook, so she's used more than her fair share of kitchen utensils. I've never seen her so openly happy and excited by a simple tool like a scoop. That's normally reserved for high end powered equipment.
So, to return to my summary review title: My mother and I are both really satisfied with this scoop. I am fully confident I'll never even damage, let alone destroy this scoop. My mother is really happy with the performance of this scoop, making tasks easy and accessible for her. If you need a good ice cream scoop, I very highly recommend this one!

In the past my husband has bent ice cream scoopers or been unhappy with them because the scooper shape isn't well formed and doesn't do a good job. This scooper is one of the best that we've had. It is very very sturdy and the more pointed tip helps a lot when you take the ice cream right out the freezer and is rock hard.

Nice grip so your hand feels supported when scooping. Works well when you first put under warm water. The edge makes scooping the ice cream a breeze.
