“I bought it to put my ice cream in when i make homemade ice cream. it fits nice in the door of my freezer. I should have bought two though. I didn't realize i'd get so much ice cream out of such a little cream and milk. The only thing is that it is so well insulated that i have to keep the lid off for about an hour until it freezes well enough to cover or it does not get firm. I had to cover it with wrap until it freezes then put on the lid.“

lid does not snap shut

This would be a wonderful product but the lid just sits on top and does not snap shut. So if you have soft ice creme, make sure you sit it flat or it is spilling out of the container.

Perfect!

Keeps our fresh ice cream fresh! The shape nicely fits into freezer and ice cream easily scoops out. The double insulated design keeps it the right consistency. And I love the colors - I got purple. Easy to clean too. Love that it’s sold by an individual who genuinely cares about the quality of my ice cream :)

First Impressions

Having just made my first batch, these are first impressions.

The first note is on sizing. Ice cream makers tend to come in 1.5 and 2/2.1 quart sizes. Four and six quart sizes if you go rock salt, ice. Although my ice cream maker is a 2.1 quart, my gelatos fit perfectly. However, the ice cream didn't all fit. Thus a 2 quart size may be in order, but even the 1.5 may be fine for a 2 quart maker in some cases.

The second note is on insulation. Your gelato—or ice cream if you're too lazy to make gelato—comes out like soft serve. Thus for the first several hours the insulation is just in the way. While you can leave it off, they don't stack or sit flat that way. This could be fixed with some feet on the inner tub.

The third note is also on insulation. I have no idea how effective it is. I'm sure it helps, but I'll leave the sitting ice cream out to melt in different containers test to some random guy on YouTube. However, what I can say is that if the gap were filled with lunch-box freeze juice, this would be great when the ice cream is fresh from the maker. It would also likely last longer in the sitting out to melt test—but the results would be interesting in any case. Once the freeze juice melts, it would conduct the heat much better than air, so it's not so clear. Perhaps it's not worth the added cost and weight. Although, at these prices, you'd think they could fit it into the budget.

The third point is on presentation. They look great, and people like 'em. Thus you'll make a nice impression with your homemade ice cream, with these when you bring it to the potluck, or funeral or whatever.
