“I bought it to put my ice cream in when i make homemade ice cream. it fits nice in the door of my freezer. I should have bought two though. I didn't realize i'd get so much ice cream out of such a little cream and milk. The only thing is that it is so well insulated that i have to keep the lid off for about an hour until it freezes well enough to cover or it does not get firm. I had to cover it with wrap until it freezes then put on the lid.“

MUST have for storing homemade ice cream

This summer we decided to buy another ice cream maker since we haven't had one in years.  Then we started the process of making our own homemade ice cream.

I don't recall years back, ever paying that much attention to the containers that I used to stored my ice cream in after I made it.  I just vaguely remember the ice cream being pretty decent and enjoying the process of making it.

This time however, it took me two batches of homemade ice cream to realize something was very wrong.   I narrowed the culprit down to the well used flimsy Tupperware that I use around the kitchen.

after actually doing some research online about how best to store homemade ice cream, I came across some information that stated the following:
Use a shallow, flat container.

Most importantly, using shallow flat containers helps to keep the ice cream at an even consistency.
Additionally, the use of a long and flat container, helps "the scooper" get that one long and beautiful ice cream scoop that makes everybody smile.
These purpose made ice cream containers are the perfect size and shape for storing homemade ice cream. Not only are they long I'm very flat, but their lid is absolutely airtight.

The reason why an airtight container of such vital importance when storing your homemade ice cream oh, is that it helps to prevent ice crystals from forming.I don't know about you guys, but I hate freezer burned ice cream. I won't even eat it! I will literally go ice cream less rather than eat freezer burnt ice cream.

Homemade ice cream takes a lot of time, effort and love to make. the last thing I want to do is put all that effort and money for ingredients into a nice homemade batch of ice cream only to have it ruined because I didn't have the right container.

That's why I sprung for the expense of these containers. I was protecting my investment of homemade deliciousness for my family.

For those reasons, I would recommend the product to anybody who of course is making homemade ice cream because the container can make or break it in the end.

Quality product

Very well made and all parts fit together securely! I wonder if a 2 quart is model in the works to accommodate the 2 quart size of Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker.

Can be a base flavor if you change fruits out.

Wonderful! Tasted really great. Sweet and the chunks of peach were perfect. Just save a few bigger chunks (not too big) to add to the final minute of churning.
